Seat belt chime deactivation: 2011???

I've owned a couple Ford trucks and was able to disable the seat belt chime with no problems. But with my 2011....no such luck. I followed the manual to a "T". On the 3rd buckle, the light starts flashing rapidly and the 4th buckle it lights and then goes out. Does this trick work on the 2011s?? According to the manual it does.

If you're like me, sometimes I hop in the truck to take it from my garage to park up at the house to wash it or the shop to work on it, or even hooking up a trailer

I'm only going a short distance so the seatbelt chime gets really annoying.

Oh here we go again...not to be an ***...but that's a bit obvious. When I'm out at the farm and tooling around doing this and that (tree maintenance, etc.), I don't want to have to buckle up every 100 yards. So spare me the safety lecture.

^ I was just going to say the same! Either wear the belt or buckle it behind you.

My girlfriend's '01 Taurus has the door alarm that wont stop. We would drive a few miles to the turkey barns to walk through them and got tired of hearing it. So, just went to the junkyard and cut a seat belt buckle. I just click it in when not going far.

Seat belt light won't go off and chime won't stop

I have a 2011 Ranger and I always wear my seatbelts, but now the light won't go out and the chime won't stop. I have tried following the Owner's Manual regarding disabling the chime. I have cleaned out the buckles, and the disable feature does not appear to work. Is there a wire underneath the seats that I can disconnect to disable the light/chime? I don't want to disconnect the wrong thing.

That might be the problem, the wire is already disconnected or cut.

I understood that if the wire was disconnected (or cut), the light/chime would not function. I looked under the seats and there are at least two bundles of wires. I am assuming one set is for the airbag (which I do not want to disable).

Isn't there a write up for this mod. Something about adding a switch to turn it on and off !

Although "99offroadrngr" did the speaker elimination mod a while back, his idea seems a good one.

Check out the "How0To" Section and see what you can find.

Appreciate the reply, but I don't want to turn it on or off. I want to permanently disable it. Starting a few days ago, the light (and chime) remained on even though the seat belts were buckled. I don't want to have the dealership charge me $100+ to diagnose and repair this (I assume the evry least they would do is install two new buckles). I am a true believer in using seat belts (because the ones in my Explorer saved my life and my passenger's lives when we were hit by a drunk driver and we flipped over at 60 mph on the highway), so it's not that I want to drive around without them. I just don't want to see the red warning light and listen to the periodic chiming as I am driving around. I don't care if I can fix it or permanently diasble it.

I'm wondering if you do as 99offroadrngr did, find the speaker and cut the wire.

Where's RonD when you need him ?

There was a How-To on shutting off the Door Dinger, the guy that wrote it is an EX-Ford Engineer, Bob, he is good for these little problems.
Also, read some of his Postings... he did a 5.0L Swap in an '03 Ranger FX4 Lvl II, with a Super Charger and full length center console with full electronics that Ranger didn't even have.
I can't find the How-To, funny, but there was a great How-To on putting in a switch for the Door Dinger, could work IF you can find it.

p.s.
V8 Level II, that is his Handle.
Read some of his stuff, his commented in the above How-To, I may have missed the boat and thought he wrote it !

Nothing ventured, nothing gained !

Here is another one from V8 Level II, "https://www.ranger-forums.com/general-technical-electrical-18/2001%7E2003-silence-your-door-key-chime-push-button-19970/".

The pictures are lost in the Photo Bucket Money Thing but maybe it will help.

I am going to talk to Bob and see if he can fill in the pictures again.

These are tips for disabling the door chime (keys in the ignition). I want to disable the seat belt chime. Does anyone know which bundle of wires under the driver's seat is the one I need to disconnect? There are two harnesses of wires. Surely one of them is the seat belt system.
