Wipers not working at all until
Wipers not working at all until
95 ranger 4.0 5spd 4wd. Having issues with the wipes not working at all until it's dark and cooler they will not power in in the heat of the day at all. Have replaced everything except for the clock spring in the wheel chasing this down . And still no luck any ideas would be appreciated
1995 was first year for GEM module, its behind the radio
GEM controls all cab electrics, including wipers
So the wiper switch on the turn signal stalk(multi-function switch) is not connected to the wiper motor at all
It is connected to the GEM and GEM is connected to wiper motor
Multi-function switch--------------GEM---------------wiper motor
No clockspring wires involved, just FYI
Wiring diagram below
As far as the "temp" issue that reads like a corroded connector in the system
The wiper relays share a common 12v source, fuse 16 in cab fuse box, if it had a corroded connection then there wouldn't be reliable full 12volts at the relays in Engine fuse box
Pull out the relays and test that you have full battery voltage, key on, at those relays
The wiper Motor also needs a good ground to work

Already put a new gem in and multi switch and wiper motor and a new relay still having the same issue and thanks for the info on the clock spring just wondered on that through talking to some mechanics
Too bad about the "new" stuff, that means even more testing
"new" used to mean "tested and it works"
New now means "YOU TEST IT and we will replace it under warranty", lol
Test voltages first
