seat removal

any issues with driving around with 1 seat in my truck? i know the passenger seat has all the wiring for the airbag and what not... i'm installing my sub and amp here in the next week, amp is going under the passenger seat, and to run the wires, i'm going to pull the seat out, and run it all under the slush mat, and up through the floor under the seat, but it may take more time than i have in a day, to do this all...

just put a milk crate in there for the time being, that way you can still take passengers, but remove it for easy access....

your airbag light WILL be on without the passenger pretensioner plugged in. it should go back out after plugging it back in. our general rule at the shop, never turn a car on with a seat out. (with airbags/pretensioners). sometimes they don't reset themselves, and it's ~$80 to get it reset.

your truck is a 94, no pass airbag, no weight sensors...

mine is an 07, the airbag automaticly turns on and off depending on how much weight is in the passenger seat

have you ever seen this on a ranger specifically? i also was in an accident recently, and i haven't seen the body shop yet, so i'm thinking i might be able to get them to fix it, as if it were something that happened in the accident, if that happens... there's a bunch of stuff i'm going to try to get fixed at the same time... like the vibration at 110 km/h (68ish)

would you guys think that an alignment would make a difference in this? if so, i think i'm going to crank my t-bars before i get it in there

anytime any part of the airbag system is disconnected, and power is sent through the vehicle, it will trip the light. a lot of people get a code, and the plug for the pretensioner has come loose or isn't making a good connection. from what i hear about that, most of the time if you unplug it, clean the connections and put it back together, the light clears itself.

i've worked on cars even with disconnecting the battery, as soon as you disconnect the seat, it throws a code. no way around it on some cars.

i would think it's safe to say, that when you plug it back in, as long as everything is working correctly, it should go away.

you said you were in an accident recently. did it blow the airbags?

no it did not, airbags were cool, i don't think you are allowed to drive away from an accident up here, if airbags depoly... if they don't you can just exchange information and be on your way, if they do, police have to respond and i think your vehicle has to be towed...

there is a thread in the general tech section i think it is, called front end mod PICS!!! that's got the pics of my truck and the 335xi that i hit
