Which shocks?

I used the standard Rancho 5000s on last Ranger and I just threw some of the new(er) Rancho 5000X's on my current Ranger. I have no complaints. Cheaper by over $100 than the Bils.

I used some Monroe OE Spectrum shocks on my old '01 Dakota and they were pretty decent as well. They were an OEM equivalent for it. Not too expensive either.

I use Eibach's on the Mustang and love them as well. They're pricey though!

I was disappointed in the @$180 each Mich street tread 31's I bought recently. They corner like a race car but they rode terrible over tar strips. It was the shocks. now, with the Monroe's, they ride superbly and I expect them to last the life of the truck (40+K) and me. Mich. has always been a superb investment regardless of the vehicle in my experience.
I too @ one point tried the Monroe Oe spectrum.........garbage, every damn one of them leak and rubber all cracked in a 1 1/2yrs....... good luck to U

That explains the condition my Spectrums cane off in, they've only been out 5 years, couldn't have had more than 20k on them.

Well, I probably put 10k miles on them and sold the truck. I guess that's a score for me! haha

Bilstein used to replace any shock that ever leaked for free. Call them down in Poway Ca for the straight skinny. Good luck.

UPDATE on the Monroe's:

They have a flaw! In sub-zero temps they become very stiff. It is as if Monroe used petroleum oil for the dampers instead of the temp stabilized synthetic that keeps a shocks performance even across the temperature spectrum. But I will live with that as here in Eugene, Orygun we see little very cold weather. You guys in the Dakotas might want to investigate this. You guys in Alaska, as well.
