So I found a lil oil leak...

Hi RF Family,

I was doing my oil change last night and I noticed oil was leaking down and coating the oil drain thing. Not exactly sure what its called but it seems like the oil is coating all around where I unscrew the bolt to change my oil.

Any ideas of where this could be coming from? It's not leaking bad to the point where it's hitting the ground but its coating all around and providing a lil drip that will eventually get bigger

Any ideas?

Yes sir nice and firm.

It seems like it's leaking down from the engine somewhere and coating all over it.

What motor is it?

I know the 2.3/2.5 like to leak around the oil pump.

If its leaking enough to form a drop or two on or around the oil drain plug then there should be some signs that you can see coming from the oil pan gasket, rear main seal, or front seal. If not, I'd throw a little silicon sealant on the drain plug on your next oil change and keep an eye on it. Just make sure its clean (free of oil) before applying it.

Next oil change , look on the back side of the drain plug. You'll see a black O-ring . Wipe it off and inspect very closely . If it was't cleaned off enough on a past oil change , a piece of debris can damage it when it's tightened down.

Are you sure that it isn't ur pinion seal. That thing lobes oil all over. To find out if it is the pinion seal you will find the oil drip under the front diff cover(oil runs down the outside of the diff)
