i drove my truck the other day for the 1st time in a little while, and first off i used the a/c, i rarely ever use it but it was hot as fawk and humid so i said what the hell. anyways when my trucks idleing the a/c compressor rattles like a tractor. when i turn the a/c off it stops...dunno if it does it as the rpms increase i cant tell i have an exhaust leak...wtf could this be?

Isn't the AC a belt driven compressor? If so, the bearing might be going or something like that. Grab where pulley is and give it a shake, if you have some play, then replace it.

see if you can find the porpotioning valve pull it out and see if there is metal in it if there is you probaly looking at replacing the compressor, it could also be the clutch on the front of the compressor
