speedo odo issue

hey all

speedo isnt working, but all my other instruments are aside from the odo as well. my abs light came on about 3 weeks ago, and its been nice to stop properly for a change lol.

i did some searching and it seems to be the vss is common failure, however i do have an 31spline expo axle in my truck, and i have NO CEL just the abs light.

i also have no wipers as well, i believe the problem came at the same time, since it worked yesterday.

thoughts, ideas, theory's, rumors, and just a plain *** answer are welcome

fuses? wiring? i'd chase that down. If your wipers aren't working also sounds like a fuse

Checked the panel fuses, fuse 26 was blown. Replaced and popped instantly, pulled bat replaced and popped when reconnected. Dome light doesnt work as well.

2k2 4.0 4x4 auto.

Fuse number 26 keeps blowing!!! it's related to the gem module so i have no speedo, wiper's, wiper wash, interior lights, chimes etc. The only wiring i have done is wiring in 2 extra lights to the rear brake lights and they are working fine!! i tried disconecting the lights i had wired but the fuse still blew!! any suggestions on a possible solution??

You're up ***** creek with that one man. There is nothing user serviceable or that you could have messed up on that circuit. Unfortunately my only suggestion is trying a new GEM module.

Pretty sure it is the gem. Did some digging last night and found a really good post on frf for once.

The only wirin thing I have done recently was a new cd player but I managed to do all the wiring outside the truck with the adapter and new pigtail on the cd player. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Here is the post- nO link on phone now.

Pretty sure it's narrowed down to a gem and caused either from the dome or the ohc.

Any one know if a gem is a generalized part or is it vin dependant

Problem solved!!!!! Turns out it was not the GEM. I have an ohc and one of the wires got pinched when I reinstalled the headliner after dynamating the roof. It was pinched on the mounting plate on the ohc and just kept popping the fuse. I loosened the screw, not knowing it was it yet, then started looking at other things in my wiring and put a fuse in and worked. Then checked it all and it was fine. When I reinstalled the fuse I heard a click and knew somthing was right lol. So I put everything back together and tightened the screw and went for a drive. And it did the same thing as before. So I came back and pulled the ohc Down and seen one of the dome wires was pinched flat were it connects to the mounting plate. I laughed and said found it! I patched it and slid both dome wires to the side and put it together. Problem solved.

Thanks to all who helped on here and friends on Facebook.
