Started fine, lost power across the board a mile down the road
Truck is a 1998 xlt 4x4 4.0. It started fine and I got about a mile down the road when I lost power and the motor started to run rough. I had lost power to brakes and steering by the time tried to pull over. Before I got pulled over the battery and check gage light came on. I've already confirmed the alternator and battery are good. I have spark but it's weak (orange).
Any ideas about what to check next? I'm thinking fuel filter and pump?

What year Ranger and what engine?
Do the 50/50 test
Spray fuel into the engine manually; gasoline, quick start(ether), ect......
Try to start
If it starts, runs, and dies, you do have a fuel delivery problem
If it doesn't start then you have a spark or compression problem
50/50 no guessing where to look next
If its a 1983 to 2000 4cyl(2.3l or 2.5l) Ranger then timing belt could have broken, so no compression and no start
If it doesn't crank(turn over) then its a battery/alternator issue, tested or not
