Starter Interchange

One simple question. Will a starter from the same year 4 cylinder 2.3 Ranger fit a 3.0 V-6 Ranger?
Thanks, Larry (Harmony162)

Hey there,

I do not believe the starters are interchangeable. The mounting hardware where it attaches to the flywheel is different on the 2.3L and the 3.0L.
It looks like the 2.3L starter mounts on the driver side while the 3.0L starter mounts on the Passenger side so the bracket is off by 180°.

Hope that helps!

No, simple answer, lol

1992-2001 Ranger with 2.3l or 2.5l are the same, NOT 2002 and up 2.3l however
