2016 ranger PX MK2 extra cab, 3.2l manual 4 wheel drive. 150,000km

Hi all, been having some issues starting my ranger recently. The starter motor has been playing up and not working when the engine is hot (works fine when starting the car first time in morning or after it’s cooled off). Took it to an Autoelectrician who replaced the starter about six weeks ago and it’s been working fine since then until a few days ago when the same issue has started occurring again (won’t start when engine is hot unless I give the starter a bang). does anyone know of a similar issue occurring? It seems strange to be occurring with the new starter installed so i was thinking it could be something else?

 

Did you witness starter being replaced, or at least get old starter back from the shop?

No I didn’t, but I did see the new starter that was supposed to be installed on the bench when I dropped the vehicle off. Considering it worked fine for about6 weeks I’m thinking it must have been switched over.
