Tach Stopped Working After Valve Cover Gasket Service
Tach Stopped Working After Valve Cover Gasket Service
2002 Ford Ranger 2.3l 5-speed 2wd
It's almost certainly something I forgot to plug in but I cannot for the life of me find this plug. I pulled the intake manifold off and there was a lot of stuff to unplug, scrubbed the grease and grime off the cover, replaced a sensor that was in the cover while I was at it, and reinstalled both the valve cover and the intake manifold cleaned and with new gaskets. The truck runs fine now, there's no more misfire, but I don't have an RPM readout and I'm pretty sure that's important info to have.
What have I likely left unplugged?

In 2002 the tach signal comes from the PCM(computer) and its 104 pin wiring harness in engine bay upper firewall
Wire runs to the large connector in firewall under Brake booster and into the cab and to the cluster
Really no connection or interference with valve cover removal or replacement unless you had to pull the PCMs large connector
Pin 48 on PCM to pin 15 on cluster, tan/yellow wire all the way
