Tech: CB question

I just got a new "used" CB. I got a Radio Shack model TRC-447. It has this feature....
Automatic Noise Limiter and Noise Blanker dramatically cut atmospheric and ignition noise...

http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...s&tab=features

When I turn on the CB is dosent squeel and screech like my old on did. Is caused by the above feature? Does it elminate all noise except when someone is talking to you?

Thanks,

Jake

S/RF, SWR, CAL are how you tune it, I would get it professionly done and then don't touch them again. RF Gain and Mic Gain are the volume maybe? Its been a while since I've messed with a CB so if thats wrong I apoligize.

in a nutshell, RF gain is how strong your recieving a signal, for instance, if your on the highway with alot of trucks and you have it up all the way, you will pick up everyones interference, if your in a parkin lot or on the trail with ur buddy then you want it down so you don't pick up any undesired noise

S/RF - In the S/RF position the meter on the radio will show incoming Signal strength and approximate Radio Frequency power output on transmit.
SWR , CAL - These positions are an internal , rudimentary Standing Wave Ratio meter.Used to check the match between the radio and antenna. As a rule an external meter is much more accurate.
RF gain is used to reduce the incoming signal when the person you are listening to is too close to understand.
MIC gain adjusts the audio output of the microphone when you transmit , usually left in the mid to full range position.
