Theft Light

2000 Ranger XLT Supercab, 4.0, 4x4 std tran w/od, 160,000mi.

Bought it used, had a spare key made (Ace Hardware for $48)

Why is there a "Theft" light blinking when ignition is off ? This started 2 weeks after replacement key was made, and only used at the store to verify it would work. Is there a way to reset/eliminate it?

You don't want to disable it.

Thanks everyone. I see the logic of a security system. Just thinking of all the posts describing the horrors of when it "fritzs"
