"Theft" light flashing

The "Theft" light on my 1999 Ranger 3.0L comes on at random times.

Everything works (engine starts, etc), but I'm worried that I'll be driving along and the engine will shut off.

Should I take it to the dealer? Do the keys have a battery that drains?

Your saying the theft light flashes while you are driving?

Mine flashes when the truck is off, isn't that what its supposed to do?

Mine flashes when the trucks off, that's what it's supposed to do. If it's flashing will your driving I don't know. Do you have 2 keys if so try the other key and see if it happens again. Other than that I have no idea what wrong, but I'm curious to see what the problem is.
