Third Brake Light Problems

Hey everyone,

So I have a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4. I noticed all the lights in the exterior and interior work except my third brake light. It also doesn't work when I put the emergency/hazard lights on. First step I did was to change the bulbs, which I did. Still not working. I heard the next step is to check the fuse. Only problem is I don't know what fuse is connected to that third brake light. I've done a bunch of searching and can't find the answer. Someone please help me. I really don't want to take it to a shop because I am clueless when it comes to wire systems in vehicles.

Thanks!

Let's start with a couple of (maybe obvious) questions... Is it plugged in? Are there any frayed wires near the connection?

Your 3BL will ONLY a come on when the pedal brakes are applied. Your hazard lights and parking brake have nothing to do with it.

I know you have to apply the brakes for them to come on. I know if your rear lights work and your third brake light does not and then press the hazards and they all blink except the TBL then it's a fuse. I'll check the wires and connections again. I'm simply asking what fuse is it connected with.

I don't know which fuse it is. If you have your manual, it should tell you. I'd look in mine, but my truck isn't here right now.

I looked in the manual and it doesn't specifically say "third brake light". Apparently it runs with another fuse that has another name.
