towing vehicle with 2.9L 92 ranger
#26
Whoever said installing a hitch would take less then thirty minutes has never installed a hitch on a 92 Ranger before. It took me a good 4 total hours, one of which was me cussing the thing the entire time. That's a good 18 years of bolts never being touched to take off, and if your doing it by yourself, it is a *****!
I have a small trailer that even lightly loaded feels like it is too much for my Ranger. Definitely borrow.
And I also agree with steveo. Being broken down that far away from home sucks. I've done it, lol.

yea and im sure those bolts are rusted to hell on this one. everything else has rust on it on this truck which is in part way i go it for $750 lol. just a winter beater. yea im not going to risk it with the ranger. i have a lot of friends with full size trucks. im sure ill be able to bribe 1 with some beer and return it with a full tank and possibly change the oil for them aferwards if they let me use it or to come with me.
i found the prices on uhaul and its only $44.95 for a dolly and $54.95 for a trailer. for those that have towed both with a dolly and a trailer which is easier to tow?

if you get a trailer, they wont let you leave the lot with it on your ranger. the dolly they may give you a hard time. i dont know how strict they are by your neck of the woods but the trailer + vehicle in tow = need bigger truck.
they trailer alone is at least 1500lbs itself.
to solve your problems, may i suggest jus getting a hold of a full size and get the trailer. it will make life so much easier.
