I've been hearing an intermittent buzzing coming from the engine and when its stops buzzing the engine idle dies down, I've been trying to pinpoint it but every time I try to stop and look under the hood it shuts off by the time I get to the hood, but today I made it, seems to be coming from the air filter box. Could this be the mass airflow sensor if so is there a way to clean or test it?

Sounds like it might be an air leak around the lid of the box. Is it running differently? It shouldn't be. If it is indeed an outside air leak & it still runs o.k. then just make sure the lid is sealed. Be sure & check for air leaking around the air intake hose.THEN if all goes well

your MAF does not contain any moving parts. The only buzzing I could ever see is a electrical short inside the sensor head or between the connectors. Either way it will kill MPGs and could cause other..more serious effects..like a fire..no biggie
