Truck shakes pretty badly at 60+ MPH

I recently posted about my steering wheel shaking when turning and hitting a bump, this post is unrelated.

2001 XLT 2.5L RWD Lima.

I first noticed this when I put on a new set of wheels and tires. Prior to that, the shake was minor and I was not concerned. So, when I hit 60MPH or over (I've not gone much over 65 to test further), the truck shakes badly--the whole cabin shakes like a some kind of an amusement park ride. Once I cruise down to under 60, it basically completely stops.
I have no idea. Wheel balancing? Like I said, it didn't happen until after I replaced my wheels and tires. I bought them from Custom Offsets mounted and balanced as a package.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Rotate the tires and see if the shaking changes. This could indicate a bad tire or balance if the sensation changes. If no change then check steering, shocks and other suspension components. Sounds almost like a really bad shock to me but need to verify.

+1 ^^^, you will need to stop by a shop and have wheels pulled off and "force balanced", this is when they balance the wheel under pressure, you could have a separated belt on one

Thanks, 4.0 and (as always) RonD. I'll start with the tire balancing. I'll take them by a tire shop and see what they say. I know of one right off the top of my head, even though I'm newer to my area...

Well, I just had the tires laser balanced (they were off--thanks, Custom Offsets), but it seems the most direct reason for my problem is that the tires are not flat. They were defective in the manufacturing process. Cheap Nankang's--you get what you pay for, I suppose. Even though I paid over $90.00 per tire.

I don't recommend Custom Offsets at the point in time. I'm going to contact them and see what they are willing to do about these tires...

Yes, but the shaking is much less pronounced now. Rebalancing the tires has left me satisfied enough. I reached out to Custom Offsets and all they can do is file a warranty claim. But, the claim process is a PITA, so I'll just live with minor shaking now.

My old tires did this at any speed above 60. Like you experienced, the tire quality was to blame (old tires practically to the belts, and sat for 3 years with no use)

Yeah, the truck still shakes some at 65+ MPH, but it's nothing like it was before I had it rebalanced.

I'm satisfied for now.
