automatic locking hubs

Hey guy Got a Q'S i have a 93 3.0 v6 ranger and i recently just started getting it back to running, i ran into a problem with the "4wd" the transerfer case engages but the the hub's are not locking? it's automatic locking, i know and will eventually got to manual but for now it would be helpful to know what i can or should do....

if the hubs are not locking because they are broken theres not much you can do besides replace them. the internals are mostly plastic, so once theyre broke, theyre broke. warn manuals FTW!!

you have a 93 so the hubs arent vaccum actuated. if the transfercase is engeged and the front wheels dont turn, the hubs are probably blown out. do you hear any funny noises from the front end at all, grinding or racheting when you engage the transfer case?
