what is the round black thing on top. the line is a clutch hydro line the one on botttom is the new one. so what is it and do i need it

If that line only carries liquid, I'd say you don't need it.... probably just a design difference between manufacturers.

the old one is probably just to keep it from flexing near the tip and breaking. just IMO
