Hey all, new here, old to Rangers. Got an '05 that had a stuck ignition. Got it working finally. Found that an electrical plug/ part had broken and lodged in the cylinder well on the column preventing the lock from turning. Please review the attached picture and tell me what the light blue plastic thing does. (Foreground, bottom left of the switch). It's got a wiper type feeler that lays on the cylinder when installed. Something that is keeping track of switch position would be my guess, but dont know for sure. It no longer stays in its spot due to it being broken and its currently hanging behind the column cover. The truck runs with it out of position, want to know whats not getting done by it not being where it supposed to be. Thank you all. NOTE: Picture for reference only. Not my truck.

That's the "Key in ignition" reminder so you don't accidentally lock keys in the vehicle

That 1 wire is Grounded when key is in the cylinder, if you open drivers door a chime should start to ring as a reminder

So a warning but nothing to do with vehicle operation

Just as a heads up, 2005 Rangers did not have PATS so there is no transceiver(wand) around the key cylinder, 1999 to 2011 Rangers did have that, but 2005 year was skipped
