What have you done with your rear jump seats?
Hi all.
I've got a new to me 2011 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab. I'm loving the truck. But the rear jump seats are god awful.
I'm curious to know whether anyone has come across any decent solutions that would allow at least one person to sit back there in relative comfort. It'd be nice to turn this into a three person truck.
If not, just any creative uses of that space for anything other than subs/speakers. Tool boxes, cargo holders, etc.
Thanks!

I haven't done it yet but I plan to build a 3 compartment box that will be several inches high. My tools, inverter, etc will be stored in those boxes. I plan to top it with 2" memory foam covered by vinyl from a mattress topper that got ripped. That will give my bully pup a comfortable place to ride. And if I ever break down or get stuck in bad weather, I can nap back there comfortably.

Don't close it off completely... inverters get hot and need air flow. Otherwise, you let all the Magic Smoke out of them. Then you'll need to buy another inverter with more Magic Smoke in it.

My current plan is for the inverter to be placed in the middle. It will be more of a storage position for the inverter. I don't think I will need an inverter often but if my laptop dies, it'd be nice for it to charge while driving. Plus the middle section is already planned for a metal grill both front and back with just a narrow wood frame, just enough for support.

Since getting a third seat in the back isn't an option, what about swapping my front seat with center console for a split bench? That would fit a third person on a short drive more comfortably than the jump seats. Has anyone done that swap?
I did a little looking (on ebay) and those split seats are pretty pricey. But if I could find an affordable one, that might be a solution.

I had a 2002 Ranger for a while that was ordered as a fleet vehicle. It had a full bench seat so you may try JY to see if you can find one. It wasn't really comfortable but we could fit 3 adults (175 lbs+ each) in the truck. This was a regular cab truck and the bench did fold forward for access to storage.
