What are these wires in the door, 2001 XLT
I am the new owner of a 2001 Ranger, 3.0 (U), XLT with manual windows and manual door locks. I'm getting acquainted with things, anticipating adding remote power door locks. In the driver's side door, there is a factory wiring harness with two wires running to a connector that mounts on/at/near the door latch. I can't tell what it's plugged to; maybe a dummy holder, maybe not.
Can someone tell me what these wires are for?
Thanks....Bill

I think I've figured it out...Door ajar/interior light sensor....no more door switches near the hinge.
Thanks for offering to look it up, but I buttoned it up without writing down the color, before it got dark outside.

Sounds like the door switch harness to me. When I bought my ranger, my passenger side door wouldn't trip the cab light. I located the switch online, popped the panel, and found a harness exactly like what you're describing taped to the support. Plugged it back in, and I now have light upon opening my door.
The only other wires inside the door of a non-power optioned truck is the door speaker.
