Wheel Bearing Replacement...

Anyone ever replace their front wheel bearings or have them replaced? I have four-wheel drive, so John's write up won't cover it, although it was quite interesting! Any help with a how to, or how much it cost to get done is greatly appreciated! Oh, and hi to all of you I haven't talked to in months!

Nate

Hey, Nate! Did I ever give you a service CD for your truck? I should have and if I didn't I was negligent since you've been to my place enough. If you don't have it, shoot me your address and I'll get one out, or we can meet sometime.

Good to hear from you again! :)

How do you know the bearings need to be replaced?? I'm thinking that the bearings may be the cause of the noise in my truck although I had always experienced bearing noise as a high pitched noise and this is very low pitch hum almost like driving on the highway with Super Swampers.

Got it fixed today under waranty. They ran a test and found bearing had excessive play. They tightened and noise was still there. Aparently they replaced the entire hub assemble. Was told that you can't replace only the bearing, only comes in entire hub set. Reguardless, it's fixed and didn't cost anything. When it's warmer out, I might try and pull it apart and re-pack with water-proof grease, if it's possible.

low pitch. cross between a light grinding and a vibration that matched the wheel rotoation.
