Wire shielding (Camshaft POSITION Sensor)

Critters chewed through my camshaft sensor wires. I need to replace them. Can anybody give me advice on or tips and tricks to the repair?

1996 2.3l uses a VR(variable reluctance) cam sensor so 2 wires and a shield

Dorman and Duralast both sell connectors with leads attached that you can splice to factory wires, just need the 2 wires, don't worry about the shield wire, its actually only connected at one end, or not at either end in this type of application, its there to absorb outside interference

Thanks Ron! The third wire has continuity to battery terminal ground. How far away from the harness does this need to be shielded, if at all? Also, never done a shield but found a guide. Practically the entire wire up to the harness has been chewed out.

Shield shouldn't matter once the two wires are connected

Just drive it and see if you get one of these codes
P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
P0342 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Low Input
P0343 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit High Input
P0344 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Intermittent
