00 ranger wont go into any gear went into the store came out and it wouldn't move I left it running when I went in the store but I can't get anything 4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive no gears any ideas

yes moves like normal fluid is good strawberry red smells new still have ony hadmaybe 125xxx on tranny just changed everything else when motor went in about 3000 ago
automatic

 

Check trans fluid level engine OFF
Then check it again engine ON

It should drop down with engine ON, that means pump is working
If still no gears then valve body has major leak

 

would it happen that fast it drove fine to the store and I was only in the store less than about 5 minutes and then when I came out try to put it in gear that's when I couldn't move

rite it just came on so fast it really blew my mind or baffled me I didn't shut the truck off and I wasn't in there probably 10 minutes in the store and came back out to put it in gear and nothing but like you say it works or doesn't I get that but I would have thought there'd been some signs leading up to a problem but it drove fine to the store nothing wrong I want to try and put it in gear it's like it doesn't even change motor sound or anything doesn't idle it down or anything like you usually put it in gear but the selectors working because my reverse lights come on when I get through the gears I didn't know if there's maybe a roll pin in there on that shifting box that attach to a shaft that goes into the transmission

 

Did you check the fluid levels yet?

Engine ON

Does it drop?

Can you roll the vehicle when out of Park?
If so then its shifting internally
If its still "in Park" then maybe the shift arm broke inside, but extreme long shot, never even read about that happening
