HELP.. A/C and Engine Problem

Hi, new to the ranger forums..

I have an 02, 2.3lt ranger that recently had a whole Air conditioner system put into it by the FORD Dealership of North County San Diego. Anyways when I got my truck back a month later I noticed that when the A/C is on the car losses a little power of course and runs like it should. When the A/C is off the car will gain about 100 RPM and then drop back to normal every couple of seconds. Also it happens when in any gear I'm in and is annoying when I'm in first because you can feel it the most.

Can anyone please help me diagnose this issue?

If the AC has started to frequently cycle on and off, I'd suspect the system is low on freon. If this is the case, I'd take it back and request they check the system for leaks.

Note, the AC compressor is used in several other positions, not just in the AC mode. I believe Vent and Floor position modes are the only two that don't use the AC compressor.

A/C problem

You can check if the freon level is still sufficient. If it's not running low, have your compressor and evaporator checked.
