2003 armrest with cupholdet latch

hi guys,

the latch on my armrest has has been broken for a long time so I’ve decided to fix it. I can’t seem to find one online. I’ll look at a junkyard this weekend but do you guys know anyplace to buy it online? I’ve found the one for explorer but it’s different.

please let me know and thanks in advance!

Do you have the 60/40 split bench?

A great resource to tap is (actually) eBay.

Put in your keywords and sift through the results. Modify and specify as you need to.

If you've found an actual Ford part number, input that into eBay and it will spit out exactly what you need...even aftermarket options.

Well...mostly aftermarket options

Try your local dealer's parts dept. Ask them for a part number through their diagrams and such. That's how I found these elusive fuel injector adapters I was looking for that my local parts stores did not have (and were clueless about)...but eBay did!

Amazon may help out, too. Rock Auto is another.

Thanks for the info. I did look everywhere but I couldn’t find it. I ended up removing the magnet from a hard drive and attaching it to the lid with a metal washer in the bottom part and it worked beautifully. I’ll still look around junkyards but at least it stays closed when I lift it

thanks!

OK. Let's try this again.

Get on eBay.

Search 2003 Ford Ranger engines.

A lot of the time, they will have the whole wrecked truck in the ad, but selling the engine and any salvageable parts still on it.

They'll take pics of it, and if you see your seats, contact them to see if they will sell you that piece you need.

In addition to an engine, I also was able to get a dashboard bezel, floor mats, and a few other trinkets I needed.

I'm not saying buy an engine or floor mats or anything, but ask if they have the piece you're looking for. Try different sellers. They want to make some money, so they'll likely agree to get a Philips head and taking it off to send to you. Maybe the whole lid for cheap...plus shipping, of course.

Hope this helps.

Definitely great advice. When I was buying and selling Ranger parts a few years back, 75% of what I bought and sold was acquired using the above methods. I paid $50-100 for parts that I turned around and sold for $200-$300. And that was with me not trying to screw anybody over, I was just charging what everyone else was charging and paying. Ebay is a really good tool once you figure out how to use it to your advantage.
