Yeah I just cut the wires and use connecting butts to tie both power wires into one and connect it to the ACC outlet that way still have that outlet for spot light or w/e you wanna use it for.

well i sometimes get interference on mine. Sometimes if the cb is on and i start the truck...it has a loud static noise..but its only there for acouple secs then it stops...and sometimes when i accelerate it will have a little whine in the speaker....but nothing really annoying. I am trying to figure out how to redo my wiring on mine...i need 2 outlets...one for the cb and one for nextel charger....so right now i am having to take one out and putting the other in...but most of the time i just say screw the nextel..let it die and just have the cb

Is there a way to get rid of the engine wine that comes through? Mine works so good when the truck isnt running but when I start it I get that wine from the ignition coming through, not real bad but its there none the less.

I would try a inline noise suppressor also larger guage cable ran to the Battery will also help with that. Most of your power ports are not set up for audio type equipment so some of them are not run thru the noise filter on the truck. What I have done in the past, is ran a 30 amp relay off the battery and 10guage from the neg post or the ground post near the battery and the out put of the relay to the radio. then use a lead from the fuse box that is key switched to the switch post on the relay so I don't leave it on when I am not in the truck. Usually works well.

Thought I would share.

That's a good idea. You get the cleanest power directly from that battery so that would get rid of any whine you might be getting. I'll try it the other way first and see how it does. Good info though Arin, I might be coming back and looking into doing that later lol

So for an update, I got everything installed and adjusted the antenna for a pretty decent SWR. I'm pretty happy with it. The mic is pretty small, so for now its in the cubby hole behind the cupholders on the floor console. Other then that, I didn't really change anything as far as the look. I can hear it fine so there was no need to install an external speaker anywhere.

I talked to a few guys on their base stations and they told me it sounded fine, nice and clear. That's cool. Not bad for a radio that's been in 4 different vehicles lol. I need to get some pictures of the final install and Alon's antenna mount and the FireStik antenna. I'll do that tonight.

We should maybe make up a thread dedicated to pictures of various cb install's so anyone that wants an idea of where to install could have ideas on an installation without having to search through different threads.
