doesn't bother my vision at all since its small and compact. I just ran all the wires behond the a-pillar and tapped into a switched fuse, just in case I forget to turn it off. Then grounded it behind a kick panel on the floor. I need to move it towards me some more so I can tilt it down a little more. I can still read the channels but sometimes I have to lean up. no biggie though.

in the console, it's hard to get to. You'd think you would kick it a lot, but I"ve only brushed it lightly getting in and out of the truck. There's plenty of room -- it being a pretty small radio helps.

Believe it or not I did put mine in the center AC vents. The radio just fit in the bezel after I removed the vents and the plastic plenum behind them.
No external speaker as it sounds just slightly muffled.

I put my Uniden PC68 on the right side of the front cupholder.

Quick question for all you guys - Do you have much fuel pump noise? I first tried a Cobra DX III and noise was so bad I bought the Uniden and with its noise blanker the noise is tolerable. I hope to in the future put a filter on the pump wires, but waiting for warmer weather next year.

Or you could make a custom OHC for your CB.

I guess I am biased, but I like my solution the best... it is out of the way, and EASILY accessible. I just have a small external speaker in the cab for it.

I do like the OHC tough...

Well, I mounted the CD on the 'track' like the factory radio installs in. Then, I measured up where I wanted the CB to sit. I got some bracket material (it looks like a piece of thin metal about 1" wide that has holes drilled in it along the length of the piece - it comes in a roll) I used the holes in that material to put screws in the sidemounts of the CB and an extra set of threaded holes that was in the side of the CD player. The CB basically piggybacks off of the radio which sits on the factory rack.

The only little change I had to make was to trim a LITTLE bit of the bezel on top so that the CB would fit in height-wise, But I mean litterally like 1/16", the rest is just wiring and patience

Ok so this is my first reply to all of you, I have sadly been lurking for a few weeks. I have had my ranger for about 2 months now. I have been glad to find a site to share or in my case for now and read what everyone has to say, I have been a member of focus forums and fordmuscle. I have been an avid ford fan for years with my first car being an 85 mustang GT, Ok ok enough gab about myself, I just wanted to toss my .02cents in. I think so far all of you have it pretty lucky, I am a 6'4 man and I have a full sized radio a cobra 148 GTL and would never trade it in for the world. I Would like to see others with full sized CB radios and how they mounted them as well. I also have another wrench to toss into the whole mess, I have a 5speed so down in the middle is out of the question,

I have thought about putting it between the two seats down low so I Can look straight down at the radio seeing I as I have the split bench and it has a recess right in the middle.... I also have plans for a scanner and a 2 meter ham,

Sorry not trying to hijack a thread just keep it alive with more ideas of mounting places...

i have seen some people make a bracket and have it angled at about 75 degrees or so and set it in front of the middle seat _\ like that should be out of the way of your stick...but with all your other set ups im not sure..

i dont think your cb is nearly as big as that...so the stick should not get in the way...

You don't want to be hitting your elbow on it everytime you shift. It looks pretty close to me.

2 meter HAM would be cool. I'm not licensed, but I've tossed around the idea. Given I'm just starting in the IT field, I'm taking more certification tests than anything else -- maybe later on down the road.

I would say the cobra 148 is about a 3rd of that size. My 2meter ham is eh a quarter of that size. My scanner well its about 1/2. I was looking into the new uniden BCD996T I figure since the scanner I have plans for are just a normal DIN size I can combine it with an after market stereo and fiberglass a mount inside the factory holder.

Uniden BCD996T

Here is a photo of my CB radio

and one of the Ham radio.

These are not my actual photos, But they are my radios

I have a full size cb that I installed where the Passanger Airbag turnoff switch is. It looks great there and won't get in the way of a stick. I'll grab a pic later today.

What kind of antennas did you guys go with Mag. mount or some other type? I looked over the posts and didn't see what you guys were going to use for the antenna. I am waiting for my Antenna to get here so I can put it on my "Alon mount" and get my cb installed.

For my CB I will be going with a 4ft Wilson fiberglass antenna or Firestick II to match my red truck, for the scanner I am running a Glass mount antenna. For the 2 Meter im not sure if I will make one or use a mag mount that I was given made by cushcraft.

I got my antenna at a truck stop. It is an off brand I think, but I used those right angle brackets (aircraft AL) and mounted it on the side of my truck box.

I went with a 3 foot Firestik II adjustable tip and a spring hopefully it will get here next week and I can post some pictures. Then its waiting for a nice day to install the radio itself after I find a spot I like alot of the spots I have seen here in this post really wish I didn't have the bench seats after seeing mounted under the arm rest.

we have the antennas up. When I get a breather from school, work, and the such, I'll try to get the pictures up.

They're all wired up. I now have to figure out why I can't get a clear signal from a mile away.
