Custom Container

Hey, just wondering if you guys have ever fabbed a container that was mounted onto your roof. I was thinking of doing something like that and making it water tight/lockable to place my phone/laptop/ and other pricey crap into when I got mud riding. I thought of maybe 18"x15"3.5" or something... but I can't really decide.

What happens when you roll over? And why do you bring your laptop wheeling? The only thing I have besides whats in the truck is my phone and big deal I have some old ones lying around still. And If I am going to walk through water I'll take it out.

I'm going to get one of those lock boxes and bolt it under my seat. That way I can stick my GPS and other important stuff in there when I'm leaving the truck for a while.

I'm going to get one of those center consoles that lock, so i can leave some stuff in my truck when the doors are off, which will be all the time in Texas

haha

i doubt its legal anywhere jeeps can do it due to certain qualities about the jeep, the first time i had them off it was 12º with the sun out and we were driving around until midnight.

i'll do it until i get a ticket.

Yeah it is illegal to take the doors off. Jeeps have the roll bars and are built to withstand a roll. Unlike the rangers that the roof would collapse all the way if the doors were of.

I thought the reason it was legal for Jeeps was because of that lip that is under the door that is raised. That way stuff doesn't roll out of the cab?

Don't need doors in Va or roll bar, roll bar recommended though. A lot of the off road guy's here have made removable door mod to various trucks ans SUV's. Here the only requirement is that you must have mirrors.

I thought in texas as long as you have the lip at the bottom and seat belts its legal. Not sure how tall the lip has to be though.

Dromlace, I would do the bucket seat mod if you dont already have bucket seats and put a lockable center console in.
