LED Clock

LED Clock
My after-market head unit doesn't default to the clock display. I have to push a button to see the time, and sometimes my hands are too busy. I'd like to find an after-market clock with an LED or other diplay that's legible day or night that would fit either in or on the ouside surface of the pocket of my 1 1/2 DIN adaptor plate that my radio mounts in. JC Whitney and Radio Shack don't have anything but LCD units that are illegible at night, unless you push a button. I know I sound lazy, but I don't think I should have to push a button to see the time. Any suggestions?

That's actually one of the reasons I went with a stock H/U. Nobody seems to handle the clock thing correctly. A lot of aftermarket radios don't even show anything when turned off!
Good question. Hope you find something, I really hunted for my old car. (Had to be LED, I *hate* LCDs... look so cheap).
** Edit **
You want readable, get one of these
Now THAT would be funny to mount on your dash.
** Edit again, I'm obviously running through eBay **
This would be perfect.

I put a digital clock from a 94-97ish mercury cougar in my truck when i had it, they are green so they match the ranger dash lights, and it wires up pretty simple.. a constant, ignition only, and a ground- pretty much it. Just have to find a place to mold it into, I used the shifter console but you could find a better spot im sure, only thing is that it's kinda deep so you'll have to put it somewhere where there is some room back there.
