Door ajar switch?

Door ajar switch?
Ok my passenger ajar switch wasn't working so I did the wd-40 and nothing so I went and bought a new switch and still nothing. So after looking around here I found the gem box and found the wires to the switches so I checked the voltage of the two and I have power coming out to my drivers side but no power coming out to my passenger side. So I spliced a wire from my drivers side and spliced the other end to the passenger side and it ended killing the power to my drivers side???? Do you think if I just cut the passenger side at the gem box and splice it to the drivers side will make a difference? My light does not work when I open my door and I just put a OHC in my truck and that's why I been trying to get this figured out. Also my door dinger works too. Any ideas?

So, if you did the wd40 and open and closed your doors multiple times and the problem is still there, remove the switch and lub it directly. If the problem is not solved, replace both switches. Imo, that is how the problem is gonna solve. I lub the four doors of my truck every month and never had a problem since the first time. My alarm went off a lot because of the door ajar thing.

You determined that it isn’t the switch with testing and switch replacement.
You checked at the GEM and determined that the driver’s side wire had power and the Passenger’s Side did not. Since the Door Ajar and Interior Lights from the door switch are on a ground switched circuit that would figure that there should be power to both.
You added a jumper from the Driver’s Side wire to the Passenger’s Side wire and then both circuits went out (possible circuit overload).
Your question is, “if you can cut the wire to the passenger’s side and connect it to the Driver’s side", yes but I am not sure if it will work because of load characteristics of the circuit inside of the GEM; too much load (current draw) may indicate a shorted condition or overload to the circuit and may shut it down. BUT since everything I have read and posted indicates a bad GEM, I would give it a try.
When my GEM went bad all of the circuits defaulted to “On” so proceed with caution.
If it doesn’t work remember to reattach the wiring back to OEM Standards and then get a new GEM, not sure if the GEM can be taken from a JY Vehicle but there are a lot of good Cash for Clunker Vehicles in the JY and IF you can just take one form the JY then try that next, after that if you want to make sure of the reliability buy new ($$$).
A little qualifier here… I am not an auto tech or electrician, I am just someone that like to think things through. There might be another sensor or circuit that defeats the GEM Circuit if certain conditions occur and the only way to know for sure is to have a qualified tech hook up a diagnostic computer and check it out.
So this boils down to you Kan Do It and hope or have it checked out and hope that you get the right part (LoL).
Good Luck if you decide to do it with wire by wire and GEM Module from the JY but sometimes that works out OK too.

I am not saying he will answer but he is a good guy and very knowledgeable with the Ford Electronics.
Treat him with respect and you MIGHT get your answer.
