If I were you, and the EB seats are in good shape at a good price, then I would consider grabbing them regardless. You can install them in your Ranger while you keep your eyes open for a similar set grey in color. Then later when you pick up a set of grey leather Ex seats, you just plug them into your Ranger, and then put the tan set on eBay or list them here in the classifieds to get your money back (while giving someone else w/tan interior the opportunity to have them). IMO the increased comfort of the EB seats alone is worth mounting the tan ones for the time being, and you will already have substantially done the work installing the Ex seats when you are ready for the grey pair, so they will go in easy.

^This is in fact what I did, just the other way around. (If you're wondering, my tan interior looked fine while the grey seats were in there, so I wouldn't sweat that part). Here's a previous post of mine describing what I mean:

I figured I'd post the answer to your questions here which might be of interest to others since I've had other people ask me the same thing.

One question asked was why some of the pictures of my Ranger's interior show gray-colored Ex seats, and other pictures show tan-colored Ex seats?

The answer is that I initially found a pair of gray leather power seats in great shape at a great price and I couldn't pass them up. For comfort purposes alone I knew they would be worth having (I was right about that), and I figured that if I came across a pair of similar tan Ex seats later then I could grab them and drop them in since I would have already done the wiring and other prep work necessary to properly mount them.

So guess what happened? Yep, a year or so later I did indeed come across another Explorer wreck (at the same junkyard) with a tan interior and with seats virtually indentical to the gray seats I had installed. I also picked up an overhead console and a full-length floor console, as well as an auto-dim/auto-lamp mirror assembly. I swapped all of the tan Explorer interior parts into my Ranger, and so that's why the seats (and everything else) are now tan.

Another question was, how did the gray-and-tan interior look when I had it set up that way in my Ranger? Well, I thought it looked pretty good, and if I had never found a pair of tan seats I still would be quite happy with gray seats in my factory-tan interior. As noted, the comfort-factor alone makes it worth it, IMO.

Also, back when I had the gray seats installed, I also painted my half-length factory floor console gray (used matching SEM vinyl/plastic paint) in order to better incorporate the gray color into the interior scheme. I think a pair of gray floor mats would make it match even better.

Hope this clears things up for some people. :-wink

No I don't have them anymore Maurice. Someone came by several months ago and picked them up. He had paid for them probably 4-5 months even prior to that, but he wanted to wait until he was in my area (buyer is from PA) to pick them up. One of my terms of sale was that I would not ship the seats, so whomever bought them had to come and get 'em (or at least meet me "halfway" at some reasonable distance from my house).

Joe's idea is the way to go. The tan seats for the most part are fewer in number and usally can be sold for a little more then those in gray. You might even make a little profit.

I once sold two gray 60/40 armrests for around $90 each. I snaped up a tan armrest at a jy and sold it for $150.
