door windows foggy

I have an older 1992 Ranger for only a couple of weeks. I noticed that the driver window mostly is fogged over where I can not see well out of the left mirror. I thought it was the previous owner was a smoker but it seems the plastic coating on the window has deteriorated due to sun. It also has small scratches in it due to my trying to use a greeny pad to scrub off the tar from the previous owner (so I thought). The passenger window has the same effect but not as bad. All other windows are good.

Is ther anythign that can be done other than changing the window or pealing the safety coating away (if that is possible)?

Phil

..i didnt know there was a plastic coating.. you sure its not tint? if it is then just take a heat gun and use a razor to start peeling it off and it should be good again.. just dont melt your interior with the heat gun lol if there is actualy a plastic factory coating but is like tint then it should come off with a heat gun too, as long as its a self adhesive film then a heat gun should take it off...
