Exp Center Console /w Manual Trans

Feel free to direct me to another thread, I couldnt find the answer. Looking at getting a full explorer center console but I have at least 3 problems. First I have a regular cab, but I can make the console shorter. Second is I have the keyed airbag switch at the bottom center of dash, below the A/C controls. Third, I have a 5-speed manual. I've never seen anyone with the explorer console with a manual. Has anyone done this? Or can someone tell me if there is enough space to cutout for a stick. Also the relocation of the airbag switch? What do you guys think? Lost cause?

The console will fit in a regular cab with out trimming, look around youll find some pics.

As for the airbag switch, I just took mine out of the little cubby and left it dangling inside the console.

As for the manual tranny...I dont think it would work. You could get one cut out the rear HVAC equipment (seeing as theres no point in having it). Then cut the cup holder and do a bunch of bondo work to make it look stock. It would be sweet but a bunch of work.

Here are some pics of manual tranny with expo console. Redlinegoods.com makes custom leather boots for the setup. As for the airbag switch, most ppl just hang it behind the console, but most don't use the switch. If you actually use it you'd have to figure out a different way to mount it so you could access it.

if you use the airbag switch you could find a way to mount it to the side of the console. just dremel a hole and place it in there. just an idea.

Awesome thanks! What about a console with the display up front, will that display accurate info without a whole lot of work? And any possibility of making one of those fit with a stick?

you could always relocate the airbag switch to the pass. side power point cigarette lighter if your model console had that option on it. i was going to do that on mine but i actually use mine alot so i didnt.

I believe the only reason Bob was able to make it work was because he was using an explorer PCM with the exploder 5.0. I don't believe the Ranger's PCM supports all the functions of the explorer message center.

And as Justin said, it won't work with a stick.

I was unable to make it work with the 1" bodylift and stock shifter. Now that i have a hurst, I think I could have made it work. Shoot...I think i want a full length again now. lol.

I hacked out all the unneeded stuff involving the heat/ac/radio. The cubby holes on the older consoles are unboltable, where the shifter would come through. I think I wanna try it again. lol.

OMG! I'm seriously gonna pick another one up this week at the JY and try it out w/ the Hurst. I really really want one now. lol. This thread...I tell ya. You ever see something and it rekindles a love? yea...this thread is doing that do me! lol.

I'll let you know how it works with a 3" body and a hurst. I think the hurst would make it work with a 3" bodylifted truck.

I'll be putting one in when I recieve mine via UPS, and I still got a couple of ?'s.

1) Where did that fella get that 2 tone shift boot?

2) Will it hurt if I just let the airbag switch hang or should I fasten it to sumthin?

3) Would anyone be able to possibly find me a floor bracket and the cubby hole part that ya gotta dremel out? All the J/Y around me work the exact same hours as me and it sux

4) Are the first few pics with the standard shifter?
