F-150 Column Gauge pod in a Ranger.....

got this last week....it is for a '97 F-150......had to do some trimming to get it to fit properly, but it aint bad.....i need to paint it grey like the other pieces....

tonkaranger04 02-25-2007 08:57 AM

very nice man. what gauge ya got in there?

lifted97ranger 02-25-2007 08:59 AM

probably a fuel level gauge.........if i can get it to work with a Ranger's fuel ohm reading.......if not then i am going to take it off and not have it there at all....

Redneckstone 02-25-2007 09:00 AM

kick ass so now we know a mustang one works for the manual trucks and the f-150 works for the auto's

lifted97ranger 02-25-2007 09:02 AM

yepper!

Redneckstone 02-25-2007 09:02 AM

where exacly did you trim just for reference

lifted97ranger 02-25-2007 09:07 AM

the red line is were i cut.......i also had to do a little trimming out of the shifter hole.....it was a bit smaller than the Ranger's trim piece so it wouldn't fit correctly......

the 1st picture, the piece behind the red line had to be cut off....it wouldn't allow the column to tilt all the way up....

in the second picure of the shifter, the red line was curved behind that, and when the wheel was tilted down, it would hit the dash and not allow it to go all the way down....

Was there s rubber peice under the cluster bezel? I just removed it on mine and it worked fine without cutting any off the back. I also have the mustang one so it may be different.

no there wasn't any rubber piece under my cluster bezel......

Redneckstone 02-25-2007 09:11 AM

that might have been added on the newer rangers maybe... i dont think my buddy's 1995 had it eather on his adjustable collum

lifted97ranger 02-25-2007 09:25 AM

my mom's '97 Explorer doesn't have it either......don't know why they would have added it........probably just another unnecassary part....for some idiot in the union to have a rediuclas paying job....

casfz1 02-25-2007 09:28 AM

very nice. I might have to order one. I want to add one more gauge but don't like the look of a dual gauge pod.

I installed the same thing but didn't do the trimming part. I probably should have but it seems to still fit very well. The steering wheel doesn't get tilted much anyways so i really wasn't too concerned about it. Here's some shots of mine installed.

Redneckstone 02-25-2007 09:46 AM

^^ most of us dont have to get the latter out to get in and out eather lol

lifted97ranger 02-25-2007 09:49 AM

yea well.............what can i say....

crawly1025 02-25-2007 09:51 AM

lol I bet you'rs fits a little more snug though. I didn't get a chance to put the plugs in yet, it was dark and late....er early lol

lifted97ranger 02-25-2007 09:53 AM

yea i pulled mine down pretty good to put the pins in.......

FYI: drill a hole 1 drill a 11/64" hole instead of what the directions say....the pins will hold better.....you will have to trim the pins on the inside of the column plastic....

HighRollerII 02-25-2007 09:55 AM

looks good man..have to look into this..

so you got dual pillars also?

or just steering and 3 gunna be in bezel?

casfz1 02-25-2007 09:57 AM

lifted97ranger 02-25-2007 09:57 AM

when everything is said and done i will have the steering gauge, dual pillar gauges and the 3 in the bezel....
