frustrating rattle

1998 3.0 5-spd 4x4

ever since the truck has been body lifted, there is an intermittent rattle around 2500+ rpm. it sounds like it is coming from under the drivers side of the dash and seems to be consistent with engine rpm. im lost as to what to look at or check. i feel i have checked everything, and it doesnt do it as often as it used to but is there any other BL'ed guys with this problem?

^^^maybe hitting those bumps is what caused the rattle?

Pull off the "knee" panel, and tighten the screws holding the metal plate in place - I had the same problem.

after nearly a year i fixed it...after the body lift, the hood cable is moved, and it rattles on the drivers side inner fender where it does through a steel grommet and a clip. i zip tied the hood cable to the throttle cable and its gone!!! what a releif!

you had it easy my shift lever is what rattled in mine and just at low rpms/speeds. like sitting at a red light or driving in a 25mph zone. I had to move the lever up and down in drive to get it to stop.

i believe they are refering to the big plastic piece under the steering column. it will pull off at the top. and the hood cable thing is whats holding on at the bottom and i believe a few screws. the metal plate is behind that.
