Gonna Be Doin the seat mod!

Well tonight I won an auction off of eBay. It was for a tan center console out of a '99 explorer. I have been looking for one all over the place. there were not any junk yards in my area with them and I even caled a bunch of places out of state and nobody had them in tan. A little over 2 years ago when I got my truck my sister was trying to open my console, she didnt know there wasa button there and yanked up on the top peice and broke it. So now I finally have a less expensive, better looking replacement on the way. Here is a link:

Hope all goes well. Did the conversion to mine to make room for a fiberglass console to house my ps2. Not too hard just time consuming trying to get the fabric down right on the seat. Good luck

Thanks. What'd ya'll use when sewing the seat fabric back together? I would think it would have to be some pretty strong stuff to hold/go through the tough fabric.

What are you doing with the heater controls in the back? leaving them since no one can see them any way? These consoles match right up with our dashes dont they? just have to take out the cup holder thing, and do the seat mod? I think ive seen it before, and it looks sweet...Ive been wanting to do something with it but i dont know about cutting / sewing my seat...maybe ill just find some explorer seats like ive wanted!!

Cant wait to see it

man, I was watching that auction. That sucker got pricey as time went on! I'm hoping I can find one here locally, once I have the time to go look around.
Keep us updated on the seat mod, I'm too chicken to do it myself just yet. haha

I did the seat mod to mine, but left the metal thing from the seat part of the bench and covered it with a peice of painted MDF. I have a few switches for random things, and in the future I'm going to put my CB on it cause I already have the antenna coming up through where the old middle seat belt used to be.

I cut holes in the fabric, and zip-tied it to random metal parts under the seat, and the mdf holds is snug against the seat
