well after months of deliberation, I picked up the phone and called an upholstery shop... came back with a 2'x2'x2" chunk of foam, a can of flex vinyl spray paint, and some pattern matched black vinyl....

more to come...but think door panels and arm rest....

 

so here is the plan...
I got rid of the center consoles arm rest (its for sale-see classifieds), and I am going to make 2" padded arm rest on top of the console. I took out the door panels and I am making new door arm rests that are larger (since they were never wide enough for my arm) and they will be covered in black vinyl.
