Mini Vent

Hey boys im sorry if this is in the wrong area I was wondering I have a what looks like a mini vent lol on the dash but no air comes out of it does anyone know what it is the ranger is 2008 sport 4x4

any help would be apprisated

KLC 07-12-2010 11:38 PM

You talking about a defroster vent?

daranger101 07-12-2010 11:45 PM

since the dash in the explorers and the rangers are the same that is the hole that on the explorer it pulls in air for the automatic temperature control.

anikin 07-13-2010 12:05 AM

its a tiny little vent hole on the dash beside the passenger air bag

anikin 07-13-2010 12:06 AM

I have no automatic temperature control on my ranger its all manuel

we know, but explorers and Rangers share the SAME dash, so to save money, instead of making a completetly different dash and whatnot, everything is just the same.

bluebandit 07-13-2010 11:56 AM

it also hides a bolt that has to be removed to get the dash out.

silverfox 07-13-2010 12:13 PM

my truck doesnt have it

ranger dad 07-13-2010 01:14 PM

Could be the air bag vent also.

drppdyllwrngr 07-13-2010 02:36 PM

if it's the one between the radio bezel and airbag like the one here:

then the following statement is the exact reason why it's there.

I have never had to take that out to remove a ranger dash. i've removed several over the past 5 years or so.

same here.

odd his 08 has it, my 07 doesnt, and your 08 doesnt lol.

morris 07-14-2010 12:34 AM

my 08 doesn't have that. i thought he was referring to the ones at the end of the dash near the side windows. i'm guessing those are for defrosting the door windows.

bonez 07-14-2010 01:53 PM

pgiordano 07-14-2010 04:29 PM

ClemsonRanger03 07-14-2010 04:37 PM

drppdyllwrngr 07-15-2010 04:34 AM

can one of you 07-08 guys posts a pic? i would love to see one without it.

RLong31 07-15-2010 04:58 AM

I have an 04... mine has it too. I figure it lets my radio breath, and we all know how important that is, lol.

Sonic04Edge 07-15-2010 04:11 PM

both of my 04's have it.

drppdyllwrngr 07-15-2010 04:34 PM

i wonder why they would have made such a minor change like that? i guess the explorer no longer shares anything with the ranger, but hasn't for years.

btm757 07-15-2010 05:03 PM

Thats how ford redesigns the ranger with small changes like the airbag for example

morris 07-15-2010 10:01 PM

at first i was like wtf!? at the radio in the 09. then i realized it's a xl and probably just has am/fm.
