Mini Vent

Hey boys im sorry if this is in the wrong area I was wondering I have a what looks like a mini vent lol on the dash but no air comes out of it does anyone know what it is the ranger is 2008 sport 4x4

any help would be apprisated

since the dash in the explorers and the rangers are the same that is the hole that on the explorer it pulls in air for the automatic temperature control.

its a tiny little vent hole on the dash beside the passenger air bag

I have no automatic temperature control on my ranger its all manuel

we know, but explorers and Rangers share the SAME dash, so to save money, instead of making a completetly different dash and whatnot, everything is just the same.

it also hides a bolt that has to be removed to get the dash out.

Could be the air bag vent also.

if it's the one between the radio bezel and airbag like the one here:


then the following statement is the exact reason why it's there.

I have never had to take that out to remove a ranger dash. i've removed several over the past 5 years or so.

my 08 doesn't have that. i thought he was referring to the ones at the end of the dash near the side windows. i'm guessing those are for defrosting the door windows.

my 99 has it they just pop out with a screwdriver... but idk if u need to take it out to take out the dash

I have an 04... mine has it too. I figure it lets my radio breath, and we all know how important that is, lol.

i wonder why they would have made such a minor change like that? i guess the explorer no longer shares anything with the ranger, but hasn't for years.

Thats how ford redesigns the ranger with small changes like the airbag for example

at first i was like wtf!? at the radio in the 09. then i realized it's a xl and probably just has am/fm.
