My Scangauge Mount

Just wanted to share the mount I created for my Scangauge. My truck is a 2005 FX4 with the 60/40 bench seat.

I purchased a Ram Mount Part # RAM-B-138U from gpscity out of Las Vegas.
http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-scr...-assembly.html

Once the mount arrived, I got a 1" X 1" aluminum angle and cut it to match the length of the Scangauge. I added a relief cut in one flange so the data cable can be connected to the rear data port.

Once I got the angle fabricated, I powder coated the angle satin black. Put a piece of velcro on both the flanges of the mount and added a mating velcro strip the the ends of the Scangauge.

I mounted the Ram Mount base to the cup holder with 4 machine screws and locking nuts.

I routed the data cable up under the dash and stowed the remaing cable under the small center console. I filed a small half round notch in the front right corner of the console so the cable can run under the edge of the console and connect to the Scangauge.

When the vehicle is unattended, I just unplug the data cable and remove the gauge. The rest of the mount remains in the truck or I can remove the arm and the only thing you see is the mounting ball on the front face of the cup holder.

Let me know if you have any questions or need additional details..

That is sweet! do you have any pictures with the scangauge off of it?
I may do somehthing like that for mounting my Sirius receiver in my truck, the mount they give you is pretty junky and awkward to change channels where they want you to mount it.

Alan, have you checked to see if Ram Mounts makes a mount for a Sirius receiver? If they do, just purchase the receiver mount and attach it to the upper mount.
