Icon5 New seats in older rangers

I'm new to this forum so I hope I'm posting in the right place.
I have a 2003 XLT 3.0 L w/ Super cab and 4 doors.
I want to replace the front 60/40 seat. I saw this statement on a website that sells seats.

"The bolt pattern did not change from 1998 - 2011, you can bolt a new seat in an old ranger very easily.
......You can put NEW seats in OLD rangers, but not OLD seats in NEW rangers."

Now is this statement true? A straight swap? or does some modification need to be made on the older truck?
This would make my search for a replacement seat far easier if true. It would also save me some cash.
Thanks ahead for any help.

What do you want to replace your seats with, ranger buckets, explorer/mountaineer seats?

I have seats from a '94 in my 98. They bolted right in, with NO trouble. You are being fed a line...

Does anyone know what seats are a direct fit in a 2002 Ranger?

The chance of finding clean seats at the JY are low, but if i know what i can select from, it might be cheaper than replacement material for my existing seats.

As far as I know, anything from an '83-11 RBV uses the same mounting points. That includes the Mazda B series during the years they were the same as Rangers, the Mazda Navajo, Explorers from 91-2001, the Sport Trac, all Bronco II's, etc.

RBV?

So Explorers only up to '01? Any Sport Trac? Any Rangers (Mazdas) going forward?

RBV = Ranger Based Vehicle.
I don't know about the '02+ IRS Explorers. At that point they had very little to do with the Ranger so... maybe?

I have a pair of front seats from an '02 Sport Trac in the basement that I picked up over the weekend. It might be a couple of weeks, but I'll let you know when I test the fit. Pretty sure they're identical to 2nd gen Explorer seats though, so they should work.

Honestly, if you were local we could probably talk about that. They're the wrong color for me (tan, I have a gray interior), but shipping them across the country wouldn't be worth it. You'd be better off looking for something locally. They aren't in perfect condition by any stretch. I just picked them up as an afterthought while grabbing the axle. The guy offered both seats plus the gauge cluster and a couple of switches for $90.

Haha, yeah, light grey interior here too, that's a pretty good price all told.

I wonder if the prices round here are reasonable, maybe upgrade to newer style seats?

Not sure where you're located beyond the state as a whole...

Hmm, interesting, i wonder how knackered the seat base/bolsters are. And no, that's not too long of a drive for me.
