ok its baby time

I searched, Ive read and I dont care but Im gonna bring this up. I got a kid on the way, has anyone made up anything for the backseat of a ranger? I have buckets and a console now, would the 60/40's be better with the kid in the middle and my girl in the passenger side? Truck is almost paid for and she dosnt have a car at the moment. So enlighten me, pics or info needed before I trade the truck in with no credit haha

I wouldn't put a child's seat where it isn't designed to go.

Sully i would run 60/40's with her in the middle and the baby in the passenger seat and make sure the air bag is off. That is probally the safest way bro.

You need to keep the baby up front or get a new vehicle.

Sorry but it is the only way

Don't put the baby in the middle. If you have to manuver (sp) fast you don't need to be elbowing the kid. Plus the carseat will be more secure in the pass. seat.

I liked the rigged up baby seat in the back, but everybody gave that guy a ton of sh*t for it. I'd say passenger seat w/ airbag off and you have no worries. Plus you and ol' lady get a little face time, up close and personal with her in the middle. Nah mean?

eh the set up that that guy made for the back isn't any safer then a properly installed seat imo if any thing its less safe

uhm...dude do not make an adapter in the back seat for your child...are you serious?

Put the car seat in the passenger seat with the air bag off, properly strapped in, as it was intended to be.

Put your wife in the back in a jump seat or in the middle. If you did anything else, I don't think you should be having a kid in the first place.

sully- you need to do what you think is the safest and not listen to these other guys, cuz at the end of the day the kid is yours and no one else can replace it so do what you think will be the best.

The best and most logical response in here.

The front passenger seat is the ONLY place designed and permitted by law to place a baby seat. The tether strap is located under the passenger seat for this reason. Its great that Ford put this there so in the event that one needed to transport a baby, they could. As to carry any other passengers in the vehicle, well adult passengers, it's a no go.

My son is 8 months now, and I have never needed to use the Ranger to get around with him of the g/f. That's what her Civic is for. By no means is the little Ford Ranger a "family" vehicle in any respect. That's why Ford made the Explorer Sport Trac....LOL
