I sanded the rubber completely off. It's just plastic underneath. I think it'd be easier to paint the plastic than the rubber.

i would finish it off with something like 800 or higher. you want a nice smooth finish. before you use any kind of plastic bonder and primer.

i think I used about 100 grit to get the rubber stuff off. After that it was lots of bondo and fiberglass (for the touchscreen, you won't need any of that, haha) then several coats of primer, sanding up to 600 grit, lots of color, then sanding up to 2000 grit, then lots of clearcoat. Didn't come out perfect, but it looks good enough for government work!

take your time. it will come out better.

Aaron your radio bezel has this sort of rubberized coating on it. I guess it's more durable against touch by fingers and stuff. It feels kinda like plastic but if you ever try to sand it off or it starts to flake on you, you'll see it's more rubbery than normal paint.

OOO BTW....umm i noticed this 2nite when i was puttin it all together...OK I'm gonna have a hard time explainin this but try and follow.. If you hold out the bezel...the very top....above the air vents...that WHOLE HORIZONTAL piece....i noticed that one side seems smaller than the other...i'll take better pix 2morrow so that u can actually see what I'm tlakin about so I dont look so dumb but do yall know what I'm talkin about?
