when sizin a tire is like 265/ 75/ r16 wider or more narrow than say 265/ 70/ r16 cuz i always get mixed up with this stuff? thanks.

 

75 are taller then the 70's. That is why i went with my 70's cause they are wider and look meaner. They both will do.

 

The first measurement "265" is the width...

 

I thought the 265 was the height of the tire? Doesn't really matter cause i have the 70 series on my ranger and they look so good. They are defently wider then my 75's i had on the truck before.

 

the 265/75 and 265/70 are the same width but the 75 is an inch taller.

265/75R16 = 31.5x10.5

265/70R16 = 30.5x10.5

The 265/70 is essentially the same as a stock 245/75R16 except an inch wider.

 

Yep they are wider. Which is why i got the 70's. Though the 265 are a little bit bigger then the 245's though.

 

the first number in the series will be the height(in mm). the second number is the % of the height that goes to width. 3rd # is rim size

ex: 285/75/15
285mm tall
285x.75= 213.75mm wide
15 inch rim

hope i explained well enough...

 

265/75/16 = 31.6x10.4/16
265/70/16 = 30.6x10.4/16
245/75/16 = 29.5x9.6/16
245/70/16 = 30.5x9.6/16

 

Thanks monsterguy. So my tires are 1" taller almost 1" wider then the 245's.

 

ya but they LOOK bigger than that. and you gotta watch out cause some tires jump in plys when u hit 265/75 like the grabbers are 4pl on the 70's but 10 ply on the 75's

 

Nope actually my grabbers are 5ply tread and 2ply sidewalls just like the bfg's i had before.
