I am in search of information about the flex cable, thing that the bulbs make contact with for the dome/map lights in the OHC

Seen here:

I pulled a bulb out to change it and this part broke at both bulbs, wondering if anyone has info on gettting a replacement part? or a workaround?

Thats gonna be something to grab out of another vehicle at the junkyard or obtain from the dealer if it is available.

My guess is that the part is "not serviced separately" in dealer jargon. That means you get one from another used console or buy a complete console.

Depending on how much work you are willing to do, there could be another solution. I will probably do this LED mod eventually because I don't like the weak yellowish light of the OE bulbs. It could also be the way to rescue your damaged console.

What brightness/size LEDs/Resistors, etc.

Wire them in parallel right? My circuit knowledge is pretty shoddy, but wiring in parallel gives the same voltage across the different paths, and with the same resistance on each path, the same current across all of them also, right?

 

Sorry, Kyle, I don't know of any instructions for that mod.

Yes, he chose to wire all of the LED/resistor groups in parallel.

You can also wire small groups of 2 or 3 LEDs in series with a single current limiting resistor for each group. These groups would then be wired in parallel. It isn't much different in the amount of work either way but you do save a few dime resistors with the second method.
