So, I hopped into my truck this morning and put my arm on the armrest! When i adjusted myself in the seat the plastic frame in the armrest broke. I was wondering a good way to fix or a replacement idea.



Also looks like the pad came off back there..

 

You can replace the whole thing or leave it. Mine was broken on my old ranger and I just left it. You can't really tell with it closed.

 

Cant see it but boy can I feel it... I'm thinking I'll take it out and build myself kind of a console that goes all the way the to the cupholders.. Sounds like a good time killer

 

Mine is god awful in my truck. Mine is so broke now that it doesn't stay shut so I have to use a bungie cord to keep it shut. Without enough stuff inside the compartment, mine sinks in an inch when you put your arm on it. I got a new set of seats to put in though so that's why I haven't replaced mine. The lid unscrews if you want to swap it. I have looked for a couple months at the yard and they are all broke.

 

I may have the one from my old 98 back at my parents house in NY. Let me make a phone call.

 

I've found that its kind of a problem with a LOT of ranger owners. Atleast in my town. I cant find any replacements for that specific part though.

 

Just a crappy design I guess. They are always broke.

 

i took mine apart and cut a piece of plywood to size and then glued it. then i put new vinyl over it since the fabric was all greasy. if you do this make sure you dont staple through the vinyl (like i did).

no problem man i used a jig saw to cut it then i used a sander to smooth it out. i cut some holes so that the map piece could snap into place. you could also add some extra padding. i didnt do that but i wish i did.

 

Yeah Im putting thin strips of foam on each side. I cut it so i could use a snap bracket to put it in instead of screwing/stapling

 

How bout replace it with a tool box? Works great as a console and real sturdy.. just stick it in with Velcro on the bottom... or so I'v heard.

Same deal here. Mine is broken too. I may undertake the plywood idea.

 

I riveted an aluminum plate in mine. It is too heavy to spring all the way up but it has lasted and is stronger than stock.

 

speaker box with cup holders slotted in, sounds good, solid to put your arm on and write on

 

almost saved for a car! buying my beauty in a couple of months :)
