Thats exactly where I mounted my SG also. I didn't need an extension, it just barely makes it to the top of the mirror. I have the same set-up, OHC and Auto Dim Mirror.

I was reading this thread and I was wondering do you have to fill the tank everytime or reset the scanguage everytime to fill up or put gas into the tank. Also is the SGII hard to reset?

I got mine as a gift. Haven't had any issues with the heat, but I do use a window screen when it's hot out, or park so the windshield is away from the sun.
